The department of Biochemistry celebrated with the staff who were promoted during the 2022-2023 academic year.
The Department of Biochemistry has organized a Blended Seminar on Collaborative Opportunities for Staff and Students and strengthening partnerships between The University of Nairobi (Kenya) and Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, Antwerp, (Belgium) on the following dates:
Common Purpose is Charitable Trust (Non-Profitable Organization) founded to run leadership development programmes all over the world that inspire and equip people to work together across boundaries. Common Purpose deliver face-to-face and online leadership programmes for multiple generations of leaders: from students in universities to senior leaders in organizations and society. We live in a world full of complex problems. These problems cross boundaries – yet most leaders do not. Common Purpose is devoted to developing leaders who can cross boundaries.
Dr Mulinge attended the 5th AFREhealth Symposium, which was held on 2nd – 4th August 2022 in Harare, Zimbabwe. He presented a paper titled Treatment duration and viral load are predictors of HIV-1 drug resistance mutation load in treatment-experienced patients in Kenya.

Prof. Timothy R. Rebbeck, PhD, professor of cancer prevention, Dana Farber Institute, Harvard University visited the Department of Biochemistry on 28th March, 2022 and delivered a talk on prostate cancer going on in West Africa under the Men of African Descent and Carcinoma of the Prostate (MADCaP).
He held meetings with our cancer researchers with the hope of starting similar research work in Kenya.
On 6th and 19th April 2022, Prof. Jun Li of Florida international university, Miami, USA visited the Department of Biochemistry upon invitation by Dr. Victor A. Mobegi of the Department of Biochemistry, University of Nairobi. Prof. Jun Li also paid a courtesy call to the Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology, Prof. Francis Mulaa.
