Biochemistry postgraduates participate in hands-on training at KALRO-VSRI Labs

On Wednesday, December 2, 2020; seven CEBIB first-year postgraduate students participated in hands-on training on Molecular biology techniques for DNA and protein extraction and quantification that was hosted at Kenya Agricultural Livestock Research Organization's Veterinary Research Institute labs (KALRO-VSRI, Muguga).

Global One Health Initiative (GOHi) Webinar

In this month's webinar topic "Bioinformatics" hosted by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte's (UNCC) Bioinformatics Research Center; Dr. George O. Obiero (Director, University of Nairobi's Centre for Biotechnology and Bioinformatics - CEBIB) and Lunayo Accadius (MSc Bioinformatics, CEBIB) will be presenting on "Exploring and Utilizing of Translational Bioinformatics in Animal Health in Sub-Saharan Africa". Daniel Janies, Ph.D. from UNCC will provide insights on "Understanding the origins of and countermeasures to SARS-CoV-2 and other human Coronaviruses".

Webinar on Applications of R software in Data Science

R is a versatile open-source software not only for data scientists but also for other research scientists. Unlike the previous years where we hosted on-site hands-on R-software training in the University of Nairobi's Centre for Biotechnology and Bioinformatics - Bioinformatics lab, this year, we will host a webinar on the various applications of R software in data science.

Our facilitator's this year are Kelvin Muteru (PhD Bioinformatics fellow) and Charles Ndegwa; the session will be moderated by Dr. Roseline Macharia.
